Intro to Equity-Centered Design at WMCAT
About this Event
Grounded in design thinking methods and mindsets and embedded with equity principles, we believe Equity-Centered Design can transform the way your team communicates, innovates, serves, and leads.
This hands-on training is intended for individuals or teams who want to expand their capacity for innovation and solution-building to create more equitable processes, programs, and systems. In these unprecedented times, these skills are critical across industries in both the private and non-profit sectors.
What you’ll do:
- Learn new ways of listening to clients/customers to identify underlying needs and frame design opportunities
- Experience how to generate and test ideas quickly to meet those needs
- Build a practice of self-awareness that allows for more human-centered, equitable design outcomes for your clients/customers
- Increase your ability to innovate and learn through failure
What you’ll need:
- A computer with a camera and internet connection
- A Basic Zoom account
- A comfortable space in which to learn, participate in conversations, and share ideas freely with limited disruption
- An open mind and interest in joining a community of learners
Dates + Times:
- *THREE SESSIONS*: Tuesdays, March 2, 9, + 16, 8:30AM-12:30PM
- Each session builds off one another, so plan to attend all three dates. Although adapted for a virtual environment, participants should be ready for a high level of interaction with others throughout the training.
